DOWNSTREAM / RESEARCH BRIEF

Why magnet qualification matters

Design and supplier approvals change the date a new route can supply a programme.

Start with the duty cycle.

Agree the required magnetic performance at temperature, geometry, coating, tolerances, corrosion resistance, integration conditions and verification method. NdFeB grades differ. Two products with the same generic chemistry may need different acceptance checks.

Ask for manufacturing evidence.

Confirm the factory, process version, material declarations and change controls. In September 2026 Neo reported initial commercial shipments from its Estonia plant following automotive qualification. The reported milestone applies to the initial customer programmes and illustrates why plant status and programme readiness are distinct.

Plan alternatives early.

Estimate when a second route could realistically start contributing and record its documentation gaps. Keep the acceptance date and the physical delivery date separate. Add any export, compliance or logistics checks through the responsible company team.
